No reaction

I have heard that often people will wish away their child's childhood looking forward to the next stage. "I can't wait for them to walk. I can't wait for them to talk and hear their thoughts." I'm perfectly content with where Charlie is now. I know those other stages will come in due time and until then I love what he is doing now. However, the only thing I am ready for him to do is smile.

It just feels weird to spend your whole day cooing, talking in a silly voice, and making up even sillier songs and this is the reaction you get -- nothing, nada, just a deadpan stare.

Every so often he is now starting to have a bit of a faint smile (usually associated with gas) but it makes me really look forward to the day he can look at me and choose to smile on his own. Until then, I will have to look at this picture as I hope for the next stage.

Emily ... it will come soon, I promise ... and it will be priceless ... then he will smile all the time ... esp. when you want him to be sleeping ... but you will just eat it up! :) Kate

He looks so much like Kyle in that "smiling" picture.
He is getting more precious every day!
